“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters.” (Ps.23:1-2)

THE ARMENIAN CHURCH

ON THE OCCASION OF THE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEATH OF THE LATE PATRIARCH MAGHAKIA ORMANIAN, AN IMPORTANT WORK HAS BEEN PUBLISHED:

“THE ARMENIAN CHURCH”

The year 2018 marked the hundredth anniversary of the death of one of the important Patriarchs of our Patriarchate, the late Maghakia Ormanian. On this occasion, the eighth book of “Hovagim Publications,” established for the publication of historical subjects, was published as the late Patriarch’s work titled “The Armenian Church.”

The author’s intention was to introduce the Armenian Church and its various aspects to those who were not well-acquainted with it.

This work was first published in 1911 in Istanbul, in Armenian, translated by the author himself. It was later republished in 1912 and 1913 with the author’s own revisions. This book, titled “The Armenian Church,” has been published numerous times in Armenian all around the world. It has also been published in English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Polish in various cities.

The book consists of 288 pages and, in addition to the work itself, includes other topics. Among them are: Deacon Vagharshag Seropyan’s preface titled “Understanding Our Church from the Pen of This Important Clergyman,” an extensive biography of the late Patriarch, his photograph, a list of publications of this work in Armenian and other languages, lists of the Patriarchs of the See of All Armenians, the See of Cilicia, the See of Aghtamar, the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and the Patriarchate of Istanbul, lists of spiritual leaders active during the preparation of the work, an article about the book written by the late Bishop Papken Guleserian (who later became Co-Catholicos of Cilicia), and three separate indexes related to personal names, place names, and proper names.

This work was prepared for publication by Deacon Vagharshag Seropyan. The cover design was done by Krikor Sahagyan and Sarven Dane.

Selma Iskenderöz covered the printing expenses in memory of her parents, Selim and Siranuş İskender.

Those interested can obtain it from our Patriarchate during working hours.
