GETRONAGAN HIGH SCHOOL

This school was established through the special efforts of Patriarch Nerses II. Varjabedyan. Although the building was built before the time of Patriarch Nerses, Patriarch Nerses could not have the pleasure of seeing the opening of the school due to financial and administrative problems. The school started education on September 14, 1886, during the time of Patriarch Harutyun Vehabedyan. There were a few members of the community in the school district. Students came from distant districts to study and gathered under the roof of this century-old educational center. The school was already considered a “Central” school from the day it was founded. Successful students who graduated from primary schools in different districts would complete their education here and serve as teachers in schools in Istanbul and the provinces in the future. The school has always been among the most successful high schools and has trained many valuable individuals. They have glorified the Getronagan name by holding respected positions both in Istanbul and abroad. The school currently operates as a four-year high school.
