The exact construction date of the church in İskenderun (Aghaksantrig) is unknown. It was restored by the Istanbul Patriarchate in 1987 and re-consecrated and reopened for worship by Patriarch Shnork. In 2001, the church underwent another restoration and was once again consecrated by Patriarch Mesrob II.
