It is assumed that this church existed before the 19th century. According to official records, the church was first repaired in 1839, then restored during the reign of Patriarch Hagopos Seropyan, and reopened for worship in 1858. Due to the danger posed by the old wooden church, a new construction permit was obtained in 1891, and the church was rebuilt with the support of the district fund and the charity of the Kayseri money changer Parsekh Istanbulluyan. The opening ceremony was held in 1892 during the time of Patriarch Horen Ashikyan. The last restoration was carried out in 2012 and it was opened for worship by the Patriarchal Vicar Archbishop Aram Ateshyan.
